Initial Influence Maps

I sat down and dug up some images relating to cyberpunk and dieselpunk, and some submarine imagery, to try and get the ideas moving. At the moment I'm leaning more towards dieselpunk than cyberpunk, but it's still a close competition. Cyberpunk has that air of claustrophobia and oppression dressed up in prettiness that I really want to look at, but dieselpunk has that old-timey, optimistic look that would go so well with fascist and communist propaganda. And now I'm wondering why not something raygun gothic-y, combining elements of both?

  1. Ohhh these look soo interesting Meg! Can't wait to see where you take this! :D

  2. Hey, have you been to the Historic Dockyard in Chatham? If you have or haven't I'd suggest going there for inspiration and research. I spend quite a lot of time there and was kind of hoping for the book you aquired for that reason, but I'd still recoment it :) The tour of the submarine might be just the thing you could use?

  3. Thanks guys! And hey, good idea Nat! I'll try and pop down there at some point. And submarine tour you say? O mai. I fear I may have to try this.

  4. They have several subs at the dockyard, some very small cute ones and the big one you can have a tour of. its well worth it, absolutely fascinating, I was so interested I forgot to be scared!

  5. You said about looking into properganda. This guy has a sorta screen print style for consepts. Might be worth a look.
